The robbers broke into the house at around 1.30am and tied up the 19-year-old victim with electrical cables.
They ransacked the house taking TVs, laptops, cellphones, cash and jewellery.
The man is believed to be in his late 30s. He spoke isiZulu and is described as aggressive.
Members of the public with information can report it to the investigating officer, Det Sgt Sibusiso Xaba, on 011 744 7100.
