Make your own bead ornaments
These crafts are a wonderful way to keep yourself or kids busy on those rainy summer days.
Candy cane ornaments
You will need:
• Clear pony beads.
• Fishing line.
• Silver jingle bells.
What to do:
Line a small, flat pan with aluminium foil.
Arrange the beads in a candy cane shape, alternating colours as you go.
Place the pan into a cold oven then bake at 230 degrees Celsius for five to nine minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven when the beads have completely fused together, but before they flatten completely or start to bubble.
Place the pan in the fridge or freezer for 10 more minutes to fully harden.
Thread two jingle bells onto a piece of fishing line and tie a small knot to keep them together. Then tie the fishing line around the candy cane and tie a knot.
If you’re using these as Christmas ornaments, tie on another piece of fishing line to use as a hanger.

Cookie cutter ornaments
You will need:
• Clear pony beads.
• Cookie cutters.
• Fishing line.
What to do:
Arrange your cookie cutters on a flat pan lined with aluminium foil.
Pour some pony beads into each cookie cutter. Use a toothpick to stand all of the beads upright and completely fill the cookie cutter. Remove any extra beads.
Place the pan into a cold oven then bake at 230 degrees Celsius for eight to 12 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven when the beads have completely melted together, but before they start to bubble.
Place the pan in the freezer for 10 minutes to cool.
Gently pull the edges of the cookie cutter away from the plastic and push out each shape.
Using a thin drill bit, drill a hole through each of the ornaments.
Tie a short piece of fishing line onto each of the ornaments and hang on the Christmas tree.
