Donate a blanket and help wrap the town in warmth

The Herald politely requests that residents do not donate any other items of clothing for this specific project.

The Herald’s annual Winter Woollies Collection project is off to a great start with the donation of 62 new blankets.

The blankets were donated by local law firm Chris Janeke Attorneys, which has challenged other businesses to get on-board and share some warmth this winter.

Each year, the Herald aims to collect as many blankets, socks, woollen hats, gloves and scarves as possible, and to distribute them to various welfare organisations in Brakpan.

The project, now in its 13th year, is greatly appreciated by the beneficiaries, who treasure a blanket and a pair of warm socks to shield them from the cold.

New and knitted socks, hats, gloves and scarves, or any new or old blankets in a good, clean condition, will be accepted.

Items can be dropped off at the Herald’s office, at 61 Van der Walt Street, in Dalview.

As with previous years, VC Spar is supporting the project and residents can also drop off items at an official collection point in the store.

The Herald politely requests that residents do not donate any other items of clothing for this specific project.
