According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (April 16 to 17):

Cases reported:

• Speeding: 6
• Theft: 3
• Use of motor vehicle without owner’s consent: 1
• Business burglary: 1
• Shoplifting: 2
• Trespassing: 1
• Theft from motor vehicle: 2
• Fraud: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• House robbery: 1
• Residential burglary: 1

Arrests:

• Possession of drugs: 2
• Shoplifting: 1

House robbery:

• A Rand Collieries resident was robbed in his home along Springs Road yesterday (Tuesday).

Three men gained entry to the house around 12.40pm and confronted the victim in his bedroom.

They tied the victim’s hands with the cord of his wife’s hair dryer.

The robbers ransacked the house, taking a wallet containing cash and cards, a cellphone, a kettle, an iron, a radio and DVDs.

Burglary:

• Boundary Road (business).

The break-in took place between Friday and Sunday.

Stolen: Clothing, shoes, cutlery, bags (not specified) and milk.

• Klipspringer Avenue, Leachville.

The home was broken into between Thursday and yesterday.

Stolen: A TV.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• A car radio was stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Platinum Road in Vulcania yesterday.

• A battery was stolen from a car in 12th Road, Vulcania, yesterday.
