Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A silver Toyota Hilux Raider was stolen from Carnival City.

* Bogus policemen hijacked the driver of a white Volvo truck along Ergo Road in Maryvlei.

The victim, who was en route to Rustenburg, was pulled over by three men – two wearing metro police uniforms and the other wearing a SAPS uniform – at about 8.10pm.

A white bakkie with blue lights and another vehicle were parked on the side of the road.

After stopping, the victim was approached by one of the men and asked for his driver’s licence.

He was then forced out of the truck and taken to a car with four occupants.

The victim’s face was covered and he was threatened at gunpoint.

He was driven to a secluded area near Pretoria and let go.

The truck’s cargo (not disclosed) is valued at hundreds of thousands of rand.

• Saturday – Four burglaries took place.

Homes along Plumbago Street in Dalpark Extension Six, Mahogany Street in Dalpark, Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst and Second Road in Witpoort Estates were broken into.

Stolen items included TVs, groceries and other household items.

• Sunday – A man was assaulted and robbed while walking along Kaapmuiden Avenue in Leachville.

The victim was attacked by three men at 12.40am as he made his way home from work.

The robbers ran off with the victim’s money.

* A home in Merriman Street, Brenthurst, was burgled of a TV, laptops, jewellery and other valuables.
