Brakpan High celebrates its class of 2019

Awards were issued for sport, cultural and academic excellence.

Brakpan High School recently held a valedictory service to honour the matriculants of 2019.

Among the dignitaries who were invited to the occasion were representatives of the education department from both the district and head offices, principals of neighbouring primary schools, members of the school governing body and representatives from Carnival City.

Awards were issued to the Grade 12 learners for sport, cultural and academic excellence.

The top learners (in order from one to 10) in 2019 were:

• Ijeoma Iroka

• Wilsa De Sousa

• Molatelo Ramohlola

• Mpho Ramaesa

• Sharon Dumba

• Morgan Smith

• Lebogang Sangweni

• Robin Fleur

• Karabo Shabalala

• Lesedi Moloi

Ijeoma Iroka received the Dux Scholar Award for having obtained a distinction average throughout her high school years from Grades Eight to 12.

During the service, the Cenestra Male Choir performed several songs and the audience was impressed and moved by their beautiful renditions.

The service ended with the matriculants reciting a pledge by candlelight.

Mpho Ramaesa, president of the RCL, received the Leadership Award from Somikazi Chabalala, district director of education.
