One injured in shoot-out with police, hijacked truck recovered

Police also recovered two vehicle jamming devices and two firearms.

Six men were arrested and a hijacked truck with cargo valued at R6-million was recovered in Brakpan yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

According to information received from Brakpan police, the truck, which was transporting electronics, was hijacked in Kempton Park earlier yesterday and was being pursued by officials from a tracking company.

Local police were alerted to the truck travelling in the Brakpan area and provided assistance.

The truck was stopped at the R23/R554 intersection (Heidelberg and Elsburg roads), where two suspects were arrested.

Four more suspects attempted to make their getaway in a white Nissan Almera and opened fire on law enforcers.

A shoot-out ensued, during which one suspect was wounded.

The Almera was brought to a halt along Springs Road and the four suspects were arrested.
