Heavy sentences handed down to armed robbers
They threatened the victim with an okapi knife and ran off with her jewellery.

Two men who robbed a Brenthurst woman of her jewellery in the driveway of her home earlier this year were recently sentenced in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court.
Nkosinathi Nhlabathi (36) from Johannesburg, and 24-year-old Musa Mapetla, also from Johannesburg, were found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
On the morning of February 7, Nhlabathi and Mapetla confronted a Thomas Street resident as she was closing her garage door.

After threatening her with an okapi knife, they ran off with her jewellery, which included a wristwatch and rings, but were later apprehended.
Nhlabathi was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, and Mapetla 10 years.
Investigating officer Det Sgt Mduduzi Manzini was praised by Brakpan SAPS management for the successful convictions.
