Weekend crime round-up
According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A spaza shop situated along New Kleinfontein Road in Leachville was robbed.
The owner was outside cleaning around 6.30am when he was confronted by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.
They demanded money and threatened to kill the owner.
One of the men held the victim, while the other searched the shop.
The pair fled with a large sum of cash.
* A man and his wife were hijacked of their white Toyota Hilux bakkie by bogus law enforcers at the corner of Springs and Afrikaner roads, near Van Eck Park.
The couple was returning home from work around 8pm when they were pulled over by the occupants of a white BMW.
The BMW was fitted with blue lights and a siren.
The man got out of his bakkie and the driver of the BMW instructed him to get back into the vehicle.
He did as he was told and a male wearing a black jacket then approached him and asked if he had consumed any liquor.
The man replied no and the “officer” asked for his driver’s licence, which he then handed over.
The “officer” then removed a gun from his pants and pointed it at the man.
He was told to get into the back of the bakkie.
Two other males, also wearing black jackets, appeared at the passenger side door where the man’s wife was seated.
They searched her handbag and again asked about liquor.
The woman was also forced into the back of the bakkie, where one of the men sat on her and her husband.
One male drove the bakkie, while another sat in the front.
They drove the couple around for about 20 minutes and asked questions about the vehicle payments and whether it was fitted with a tracking device.
They came to a stop in a veld where the couple was bound using cable ties and shoelaces.
Two of the men drove off in the bakkie while one kept a watch over them.
They were told to wait for 15 minutes before returning to the roadside, where they would find their bakkie.
After waiting some time, the couple walked to the road where the vehicle was nowhere to be seen.
They sought help at a residential complex.
The bakkie was recovered in Dawn Park, Boksburg.
• Saturday – A silver Volkswagen Polo was stolen from Mall@Carnival.
• Sunday – Jewellery, a DVD player and other household items were stolen during a break-in at a home along Hospital Road, Brakpan North.
* A radio and other valuables were stolen from a vehicle parked along Ergo Road in Witpoort Estates.
