Donation brings relief to care centre

The centre works with the SAPS, social welfare services and correctional services, and relies predominantly on donations to survive.

Residents of the Love Ones of God family care centre in Brakpan North recently received a generous donation of various goods from Jamiatul Ulama South Africa (Council of Muslim Theologians).

Based in Johannesburg, the welfare department of Jamiatul Ulama South Africa conducts poverty alleviation projects.

The Love Ones of God, situated in Abramowitz Street, was founded in 2001 and cares for people from all walks of life including pensioners, low-income families, as well as homeless, unemployed and disabled individuals.

The centre works with the SAPS, social welfare services and correctional services, and relies predominantly on donations to survive.

Jamiatul Ulama South Africa donated 120 blankets, 200 toiletry hampers, items of clothing for children and adults (shirts, warm hats, gloves and scarves), stationery and treats.

“Noting the difficult times we all find ourselves in, I still appeal to those who are able to make donations to do so and support organisations and individuals within our town,” said Brandon Pretorius, DA councillor for Ward 97 in Brakpan.

“Because of your assistance and continued support we are keeping people in need off the streets and providing them with dignity.”
