Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Tools and other valuables were stolen during a break-in at a business along Voortrekker Road.

* A home in Silverbush Crescent, Dalpark, was burgled of a laptop, jewellery, liquor, clothing and other household items.

* A man was robbed by two men at gunpoint along Voortrekker Road. The victim was waiting for his girlfriend at 9.45pm when he was confronted by the pair, who demanded his cash and cellphone.

* A security guard was robbed of his cellphone and wallet during a robbery at a company along Second Road in Sallies Village.
The guard was conducting patrols at around 11pm when he was confronted by a gunman.
Copper cables were stolen from the business and it is believed a gang of males were involved in the robbery.
A white Ranger bakkie was used in the commission of the crime.

• Saturday – A TV and a cellphone were stolen during a burglary at a home in Waldeck Street, Brakpan North.

* The occupants of a blue Volkswagen Golf robbed a motorist along Nossob Street in Dalpark.
The incident took place just before midnight when the motorist was forced to stop his car by a vehicle blocking his path.
He was then approached by two men, who tried to open his car doors.
The victim was instructed to get out of his car and was searched by the men, who took his wristwatch, iPhone, jacket and wallet containing bank cards, his driver’s licence and some cash.
The robbers then threatened to shoot the victim if he didn’t consume the drink they had given him.
The victim drank the liquid and drove home.
He later discovered his bank card had been used to make purchases to the value of R2 500.
A case of common robbery is under investigation.

* Cash was stolen during a break-in at a business along Kitzinger Avenue.

• Sunday – A car parked at an address along Prince George Avenue was broken into and the vehicle’s radio was stolen.

* Two security guards on duty at business premises along Lemmer Road in Vulcania were robbed by two men.
One of the guards was inside the guard room at around 10.20pm when he heard his colleague scream.
Going outside to investigate, he was confronted by a gunman who forced the guards to lie down.
The robber was joined by an accomplice and the guards were searched and robbed of their cellphones.

* A home in Mouton Street, Withok Estates, was burgled of a gaming console, a camera and other valuables.
