Three men wearing bulletproof vests with ‘police’ emblazoned on the back and front approached the driver.

The men checked the truck’s licence disc and then asked about the cargo.

They demanded to see the invoices for the copper pipes, which the driver handed over.

The driver and passenger were told to get out of the truck to be screened for Covid-19.

The pair was then threatened at gunpoint and forced into the Polo.

The hijackers drove the victims around for about two hours before releasing them at a plot in Withok.

The truck was recovered in Apex, Benoni, by a tracking company.
