Suspected robber in cuffs after shootout
He will be charged for business robbery and possession of stolen property.
A 26-year-old man was arrested in Brakpan on Thursday following a robbery at Pep Store along Voortrekker Road.
Capt Pearl van Staad, the spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, told the Herald the shop was robbed by a gang of eight men at about 10am.
Staff members were threatened at gunpoint, tied up and forced into a back storeroom.

“The men took an undisclosed amount of cash, laptops and cellphones from the shelves,” said van Staad.
“They fled the scene in two vehicles, four men in each car.”
According to van Staad, one of the vehicles was spotted by WO Jan Roos and Const Elwin Davis from the Brakpan SAPS Task Team.
“The members pursued the car and, in Athlone Avenue towards Mall@Carnival, a shootout ensued between the suspects and police,” said van Staad.
“One suspect was shot and the motor vehicle came to a halt.
“The suspects got out of the car and ran in different directions.”
The injured man was arrested and some of the stolen items were recovered in the vehicle.
He will be charged for business robbery and possession of the stolen property.
No other suspects were arrested and van Staad added the investigation is still in progress.
