Hijacking prone R23 gets hot spot signs

Brakpan police have welcomed the erection of the signs.

The stretch of Heidelberg Road (R23) that runs through Brakpan has for many years been a favourite stomping ground for hijackers and a headache for local police.

The road remains the most likeliest place in Brakpan for motorists, especially truck drivers, to fall victim to hijackers.

A source of major concern to Brakpan SAPS, it is hoped the erection of “Hi-jacking Hot Spot” and “Smash-and-Grab Hot Spot” traffic signs will create awareness and help motorists be more vigilant.

These warning signs have been erected at various locations and intersections along the road.

Brakpan police have welcomed the erection of the signs, which according to them, was a result of action from the provincial administration.
