Spurs remain unbeaten

Club manager Jabulani Munene was full of praise for Mogoboya.

Brakpan Spurs were just too good for FC Amadino as they walloped them 4-1 at the Brakpan Sports Grounds on Saturday.

This was Spurs’ third match in this season’s Easterns Local Football Association (ELFA) league. The first half belonged to youngster Udoka Magoboya, who was playing in his first senior side match, as he scored twice to give the local side a 2-0 lead at half-time.

Amadino started the second period with more purpose and pulled a goal back as they threatened to come away with something from the match.

It was not to be as Alex Vilanculos headed in from a corner kick to restore Spurs’ two-goal advantage. Trymore Patsanza scored the fourth goal late in the match to see his side winning 4-1.

Spurs remain undefeated this season after four matches. Spurs’ u-17 side were in action in Benoni on Sunday and Magoboya, playing for his regular side, was once again the star.

The teenager scored a hat trick to help his team beat Benoni Northerns 6-3. Ntokozo Songo (two) and Teboho Maleka were the other scorers.

Club manager Jabulani Munene was full of praise for Mogoboya.

“We plan on to use Udoka in the senior team as he has been in the team since he was nine years old. I believe he now fits in to be what we normally in the team call ‘big player’,” said Munene.

Spurs’ first team will be away to Boksburg FC this weekend in a top-of-the-table clash as the Brakpan side is only behind on goal difference on the log.
