Five injured in early morning crash

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.

Five people were injured following a two-vehicle collision in Brakpan during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The accident took place at the corner of Heidelberg Road (R23) and Airport Drive.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 1.30am, they found patients scattered over the road and one patient still entrapped in a vehicle,” said ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen.

“Upon closer inspection, four people were found to have sustained serious injuries, while one person was found to have sustained moderate injuries.

”Medics treated the patients and provided seriously injured patients with advanced life support interventions. One of the patients was airlifted to hospital by medical helicopter.”

ER24, and another service at the scene, transported the rest of the patients to hospital for further medical care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
