Long-service recognised at Pick n Pay
A special award was presented to Maria Etchells, known to customers and staff as Tannie Maria, who is retiring after 28 years of service.
Long-serving employees at Sherwood Pick n Pay were recently honoured by management and presented with long-service awards.
Staff members were thanked for their contributions and were awarded certificates for over 10, 15 and 20 years’ service.
A special award was presented to Maria Etchells, known to customers and staff as Tannie Maria, who is retiring after 28 years of service.
“We wish her a happy retirement. She will be missed but not forgotten,” said Mike Koumbounis, joint owner of Sherwood Pick n Pay.

The recipients of more than 10 years’ service (bronze awards) were Zodwa Nhlabathi, Simphiwe Monyatsi, Maphefo Komane, Blessed Seruwe, Dudu Mello, Baby Mahlangu, Thabile Hadebe, Caroline Ndlovu, Melissa Cloete, Charlotte Nzimande, Thembile Mpisani, Erick Malapane, Teresa Lubbe and Mbali Nkosi.
Silver awards (15 years service) were awarded to Margaret Ratsela, Aletta Kodisang, Belinda Foster, Helen Skosana, Steya Nodwengu, Nomvula Nzimande, Gratitude Modibedi, Sthembile Mndebele, Solly Matusse, Jankie Bogopa, Artwell Mutayi and Margaret Mopo.
Receiving gold awards for more than 20 years’ service were Maria Etchells, Promise Mhlanga, Lindiwe Lushaba, Cecilia Mahlangu, Bheki Mnyakemi, Oupa Kekana and Lorraine Malandisa.
