Second-hand dealers, scrapyards raided

Fines worth R2 500 were issued.

A law enforcement operation targeting second-hand dealers and scrapyards was conducted in Brakpan last Wednesday.

Brakpan Vispol members were joined by stakeholders from Rapid Rail, Bidvest Transnet and Combined Private Investigations.

According to Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, fines worth R2 500 were issued.

A 40-year-old man was also arrested for possession of stolen property and contravention of the Second-Hand Goods Act.

Items believed to have been stolen from railway lines were found and seized.
