Informal settlement residents demand electricity

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Around 30 residents of the Mgongo informal settlement along Location Road took to the streets this morning (Thursday) in protest.

Tyres were set alight and protesters blocked the intersection of Location and Hospital roads.

It is believed the residents are protesting the lack of electricity infrastructure in the settlement.

EMPD and SAPS Public Order Policing (POP) Unit members are on scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
