Help bring joy to Plastic City children

A Tsakani resident is hoping to bring some happiness to the lives of children in Plastic City with a fun day on November 6. Leah Khumalo drives past the informal settlement on her daily travels to work.
“I noticed these children staying there. I was touched and decided to invite my friends to host a fun day for those children,” she said.
“I am doing this as an individual impacted by the circumstances these children are living and growing up in.
“I had an opportunity to visit the site and was introduced to two of their leaders and a lady who does a feeding scheme. She informed me that every Saturday she feeds 86 children. We are planning to reach 100 children on that day.”
The group plans to spend at least five hours with the children.
“We will play soccer and indigenous games with them. We have an artist called Asiringeni who will do face painting, and another group called Youth Givers who will be bringing toiletries,” said Khumalo.
The organiser will also be donating toiletries and medals for the children participating in the games.
She has appealed to community members to assist with donations that will bring joy or make a difference in the lives of these children.
