Community must band together to fight crime

"We cannot keep this town safe without everyone's help in fighting crime."

The Brakpan CPF held its AGM last Thursday evening.

The gathering, which was held at the NG Kerk Dalview, was the first CPF meeting of the year and was attended by Brakpan SAPS station commander Brig Fredl Jonck, senior state prosecutor Dick Hattingh, SAPS officers, local Ekurhuleni councillors, representatives from the EMPD, Bidvest Security, Afriforum, CPF and members of the community

An overview of the town’s crime was discussed by Jonck with an emphasis on the importance of residents joining the CPF and getting involved in community-driven projects.

“I want to sincerely thank all those who attended. We had a very good turnout, which shows the people of Brakpan care about the safety of their community,” said Brakpan CPF deputy chairperson Tinus Jordaan.

“We cannot keep this town safe without everyone’s help in fighting crime. It just cannot be left to the few to do it all. Please get involved in your community.”
