Intruders cause destruction at Bosman Stadium
The actions of the burglars left the bathrooms and visitors' change room flooded.
Saturday morning was a tough one for CCC Brakpan Rugby Club’s administrators as they arrived at Bosman Stadium and found the public toilets had been broken into.
The perpetrators broke off the taps and let water spill out and flood the bathrooms and the visitors’ change room a floor below.
This has caused major damage to the stadium, as the visiting East Rand United team was forced to use alternate bathrooms for their match against Brakpan later that day.
“The ceilings are damaged,” said Brakpan’s chairperson, Harry Nieuwenhuis.
“They broke every single tap and every single toilet basin. I can imagine it is going to cost a lot of money to replace everything.”
There was also furniture in the change rooms damaged by the water.
“It just seems very spiteful. I don’t know why these things happen. Obviously, all the copper pipes and the others are gone.

“They took everything, but why do they break the stuff? Why did they open all the taps?” asked the disappointed chairperson.
Nieuwenhuis explained the burglars first opened the taps before breaking them.
“We can’t blame anyone because we don’t know who did it,” he added.
