Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to Brakpan police from April 15 to 17.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

• Friday

A white BMW motorbike was stolen from an address along Recreation Way in Anzac.

An alternator from a vehicle parked on the property was also stolen.

A car parked at an address in Scott Street, Brenthurst, was broken into and two cellphones were stolen.

Tools were stolen from a garage at a residence on Carmyllie Avenue in Dalview.

A car parked in the garage was also broken into and its radio was stolen.

• Saturday

Tyres were stolen from a vehicle and a trailer parked at a home along Witpoortjie Road in Rand Collieries.

• Sunday

A home in Gladstone Avenue was burgled of two TVs, four cellphones, a set of speakers, cash, a wristwatch and other valuables.

A man was robbed of two cellphones and R300 after accepting a lift from two males travelling in a silver double-cab bakkie. The victim was walking along Hospital Road from Springs when the vehicle stopped at around 12:00 and the men asked where he was going.

They agreed to give him a lift to the Brakpan CBD. Once they reached an open veld near Boundary Road, the driver demanded the victim’s belongings and threatened to shoot him. He was then forced out of the car and the pair drove away.
