Newly elected ward committee members welcomed

The DA in Ward 97 in Brakpan is pleased to announce the names of its ward committee members.

The election of a ward committee plays an important role in communities as it allows residents to actively take part in determining core municipal processes such as the integrated development plan (IDP) and municipal budgeting in a manner that best addresses their needs.

These elected structures also provide a vital link between ward councillors and the community through processes such as public participation at the local government level where residents can make recommendations onward issues and hold the ward councillor accountable for the execution of their duties.

The elected representatives for Ward 97 are:
• Happy Nkosi: women and children

• Martha Moeketsi: faith-based organisation

• Sakhile Siwela: youth

• Annette Betsie Pienaar: disabled and aged

• Gilbert Shirinda: environmental development

• Bongani Goodman Mathonsi: infrastructure services

• Smangaliso Jul Mejoane: economic development and city planning

• Basani Queen Baloyi: health and social development

• Mpho Modise: sports, heritage, recreation, arts and culture

• Busisiwe Rosemary Maseko: community safety
