Three robbers made off with cash after robbing a Maryvlei supermarket on Sunday.
According to Captain Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for Brakpan police, the trio entered the Ergo Road shop at around 06:30.
“All three were armed with hand guns,” she said.
The robbers, all of whom were wearing masks, demanded money and threatened to shoot a 38-year-old shop employee if he did not cooperate.
“He was assaulted. An amount of R12 500 in cash was handed to the robbers who ran away,” said van Staad, adding that no shots were fired.
A case of business robbery is under investigation.
