Dennis, the vintage fire engine at the Just Wheels Vehicle and Tractor Club in Brakpan, is one of very few vintage fire engines still running in Gauteng and the only one in Ekurhuleni.
It is a 1934 fire engine. Operating and maintaining the vehicle is expensive and the club cannot do it alone.
Dennis will be appearing at a special charity run on September 18 and is in dire need of two front tyres.
An appeal has been made to members of the public or businesses to assist. The tyres do not have to be new as Dennis is only driven on special occasions.
The tyres are an odd size, 7-20, but it is assumed that any 20″ truck tyre should work. The club may be contacted on 082 263 7567 or justwheels92@gmail.com
