Missing woman’s body found

A case of murder is now under investigation.

The search for missing Brakpan resident Khanyisile Mashigo ended in tragedy after her body was found in an open veld.

It was recently reported by the Brakpan Herald that the 50-year-old Dalpark Ext One resident was last seen on December 10.

According to local police, she left her Anker Street home in her BMW at about 17:30.

“Since then she had been out of reach. Her phone would ring with no response until it went off on Sunday,” said Brakpan SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Pearl van Staad.

“On December 12, Dawn Park SAPS was contacted by a passerby about a female body in an open veld next to the Rooikraal area.

“On arrival, members found a female body and it is believed it was dumped there. All role players were summoned to the scene and the body was taken to the Germiston mortuary.

“Investigations continued whereby her vehicle was circulated and last seen in Vosloorus. An address in Vosloorus was visited but in vain.

“On December 15, the family was taken to the mortuary to identify the body and they positively identified her.”

A case of murder is under investigation and Van Staad pleaded for anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
