Shelter ends year on a high note

The NPO has come a long way since 2019 from humble beginnings as a soup kitchen and distributing food parcels.

The Soul Outreach and Upliftment Centre in Dalview was able to give 34 street children and 36 adults a merry Christmas on December 10 at their shelter.

There was a Santa, gifts for the children and a live musician.

Soul’s shelter has a fee of R60 per night for a bed, two meals, a warm shower and electricity. They also provide counselling and Bible study.

Unfortunately many people can’t afford this fee, and Soul relies on monetary donations from businesses and the public to support these people.

Currently, 26 people are staying in the shelter.

Soul Outreach is also planning a safe house for children called Soul Kids and started this project on November 23, last year.

Since the start of the project, the NPO was able to create a home for neglected children, provide a safe place for children who drop in, protect abused children and provide children with healthy meals.

Donations can be made at 157 Hamilton Avenue and the public may contact Lynne Reek on 066 0706 674.
