Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from March 31 to April 2.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A white Nissan NP200 bakkie was stolen from Escombe Avenue.
• Cellphones and other goods were stolen during a break-in at a store at Kwa-Thema Square in Maryvlei.
The perpetrators gained access through the shop’s ceiling.

• A home along Witpoortjie Road in Rand Collieries was burgled of TVs and kitchen appliances.

Saturday – A white Nissan was stolen from an address along Gairloch Street in Dalview.

• A white Toyota Legend bakkie was stolen from Carnival City.

Sunday – Speakers, clothes, shoes and other valuables were stolen from a home in Regents Avenue.

• A male pedestrian was robbed at gunpoint along Athlone Avenue in Dalpark. The incident took place at around 15:30 when the victim was stopped by a woman asking for directions.

The woman then became aggressive and pointed a gun at the victim. She was joined by a male accomplice, also armed with a gun, who demanded the victim’s bag.

The pair fled with the bag which contained clothes, a cellphone and other belongings.
