Hotel robbers flee with cash and booze
Staff and a hotel guest were threatened with firearms.
Cash and liquor were stolen during an armed robbery at a hotel in the Brakpan CBD on Monday evening.
According to information received from Brakpan police, a man armed with a gun entered the hotel at around 23:30 and confronted a staff member as he was preparing to leave for the night.
The staff member was taken to the bar and the gunman was joined by three accomplices, all of whom had firearms.
They asked the staff member about the location of the safe and he led them to the office where he was forced to open the safe and the robbers helped themselves to the thousands of rands inside.
The staff member’s feet and hands were then bound with cables and the robbers asked him if there was any money in the gambling machines.
