Book for East Rand Youth Orchestra Concerto

A national award-winning soloist will also accompany two sopranos and play a piano concerto by Saint-Saens.

The East Rand Youth Orchestra’s annual Concerto Festival takes place on June 10 and 11 under the baton of Pienaar Fourie.

The concert takes place at the EJ Butler Centre for the Arts at St Dunstan’s College at 14:30 on both days. The soloists are between nine and 17 years.

Audiences can look forward to a standard concert with works beautifully performed by a talented and experienced orchestra of young masters.

It is the same youth orchestra that recently played an Easter concert in the Catholic Church, a Summer New Year’s concert and a Christmas concert.

There is a guitar concerto by Vivaldi, pieces from Carnival of the Animals, a Saxophone concerto and the violin and accordion theme from Scent of a Woman.

A national award-winning soloist will also accompany two sopranos and play a piano concerto by Saint-Saens. There are 12 works in total.

Fourie conducts the orchestra, supporting the different styles and encouraging them to let their music speak to our souls – something he has been doing for the past 50 years.

Bring your children to see the joy of sharing music. Refreshments will be on sale (cash only).

Tickets are available at Webtickets or the door and are R140 for adults and R100 for pensioners and children under 18.
