Just Wheels Women’s Day lunch a roaring success

Ladies were treated to many lucky prizes, delicious food and top tier entertainment.

Just Wheels Motor Club held a Women’s Day lunch last week Wednesday to raise funds for San Michele Home and House Jabes, a home for orphaned boys.

Bart Zaayman thanked sponsors and attendees before explaining the history of the ladies event. The first event was held in 2014 to raise funds for a child that needed a cochlear implant.

The club initially started with just five members in 2010 and has grown to around 200 members, all supportive of this good cause.

“Just Wheels doesn’t give money, that’s our principle, we give necessities,” Bart said.

Models gave the guests a short fashion show to showcase their skill and elegance.

San Michele mostly needs equipment and medical equipment, along with clothes and shoes. A sponsor donated a blood pressure monitor, but more equipment is still needed.

House Jabes is moving to a new location in Rand Collieries and needs a fridge among other necessities.

The event was organised by Bolla van Heerden, and MC’d by entertainer Kabous Koegelenberg, who also provided the musical performances for the day.

A short fashion show titled the Walk of Fame was held before the sculpture, pamper hamper and mystery voucher were auctioned off.

The sculpture was auctioned off for R1 500, the pamper hamper courtesy of Ackermans for R2 000 and the mystery voucher that turned out to be a weekend away went for R1 300.

Eleanore van Heerden won the raffle for the Harley Davidson drawing, and six attendees won steel garden sculptures in a lucky chair draw, where they found special stickers underneath their chairs.

There were other small prizes including earrings and face cream to be won by the lucky draw for anyone that purchased a ticket to attend the event.

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, and the tables were decorated to the nines, making the event highly enjoyable and elegant.
