Emperors Palace management, staff and Peermont executives gathered recently to remember and honour the women whose lives have been lost to gender-based violence (GBV). During the gathering, employees were addressed by advocate Brenda Madumise-Pajibo of Wise4Afrika, and members of the SAPS. The Peermont Foundation, a CSI initiative of the Palace of Dreams, made a R100 000 donation to Tshegofatsa Rona Welfare & Community Organisation, a shelter based in Kempton Park that makes sure women and children have a safe place to go. In addition, employees pledged their commitment to “Remember those who have lost their lives”, “Stand together with those affected” and “Say NO to Gender-Based Violence”. Brakpan SAPS chaplain Captain Godfrey Booysen gave a scripture reading and prayer during the event. PHOTO: Yolanda van der Stoep
