Enter Johnson Crane Marathon today

The marathon and half-marathon will start at 05:30, and the 10km and 5km races will follow at 05:45.

The countdown to the 41st Johnson Crane Marathon has begun, and the Benoni Harriers are encouraging runners to enter the race, which takes place at Willowmoore Park on January 28.

With just under two weeks left before road-running enthusiasts line up in Harpur Avenue to partake in one of the most highly anticipated marathons in the province, the club is urging runners to enter on time rather than waiting to scramble for entries later.

The race includes the standard 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km and 5km fun run.

For those looking for an early Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon and Comrades Marathon qualifier, this race will offer them the perfect opportunity to meet the qualifying requirements of both ultra-marathons.

To qualify for both races, runners must complete the 42.2km distance in 04:49:59 for the Comrades and in under five hours for the Two Oceans.

Last year, Tony Skink won the men’s race, while veteran runner and 2016 Comrades winner Charnè Bosman clinched the women’s race.

Lucky Mohale won the men’s half-marathon, while Mapaseka Makhanya crossed the line first in the women’s race.

Sam Moloi and Simonay Weitsz won the men’s and women’s 10km, while Grant Jones and Tatum Laybourn finished first in the 5km fun run.

Online entries are still open and will close on January 19. Late entries can be collected at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Boksburg between January 25 and 27 from 09:00.

There will be no entries on the race day or collection of race numbers unless arranged with the organisers.
The marathon and half-marathon will start at 05:30 and the 10km and 5km races will follow at 05:45.
