Dalpark dad fights off robbers

The intruders fled with two cellphones.

A Dalpark Ext Six man was injured after coming to the defence of his family during a house robbery on January 15.

According to police information, the man’s wife was followed inside the Swarthaak Street home by a man wearing a mask at around 20:45.

She had been sitting outside on the veranda and was confronted by the intruder, who indicated to her that he was armed with a gun, when she walked back in the house.

The couple’s two children were in the house and the husband was asleep. The wife was shoved inside the home and saw two other robbers with her children.

The commotion in the house awoke the husband and a struggle ensued between him and the intruders.

One of the robbers fired three shots at the husband and he sustained injuries to his upper leg and hip.

The trio fled with two cellphones belonging to the children. The husband was taken to the Netcare Sunward Park Hospital in Boksburg.

Cases of house robbery and attempted murder are under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
