Crocheters to make own surprise
The group is gearing up to make blankets for the families of prisoners.

Sip ‘n Crochet met again at Zonskyn Tea Garden in Springs on March 9 to continue putting together the last blankets for donation to the Eventide Old Age Home in Brakpan.
After assembling the blankets and eating lunch, wool, bought via a financial donation from the owners of Zonskyn – Edwin and Zonda Dreyer – was handed out to start squares for a new batch of brightly coloured blankets.
The wool in all colours was distributed among the ladies who crochet for charity so they could make more squares at home.
These squares will go to Kairos Outside, a charity supporting families globally with members in jail. Beyond helping families, the charity also takes them on a weekend away where they are spoilt and given a break.
The blankets will be handed to the charity in October, so the crocheters have some time to make their rainbow blankets.
Each member took a bag containing six balls of yarn, each a different colour, to make their squares at home.
The next meeting will be on April 13 at Zonskyn, and Heather Bendeman, the group’s founder, dubbed it a “mysterious moment”.
As some respite from the charity work, the meeting will focus on making a surprise project for the crocheters.
Interested parties can call Bendeman on 083 580 4756.
