Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from May 10 to 12.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A welding machine was stolen from an address along Rooihout Street in Dalpark.

• A motorcyclist was robbed of his bike along New Kleinfontein Road in Leachville at around 20:00.

The victim fell from his bike after driving into wire or rope that had been stretched across the road.

A group of people emerged from the surrounding fields and chased the victim away.

They then took his motorbike, which is valued at R32 000. A case of hijacking was opened.

Saturday – Fire extinguishers were stolen from a storage room at a property along Porter Avenue.
• A white Toyota Hilux was stolen from Tweedy Road in Brenthurst.
• A home in Stoffberg Avenue was burgled of cosmetics, a pair of shoes and an amplifier.

Sunday – A vehicle parked at an address along Gardiner Avenue was stripped of its battery.
