TikTok collective shows kindness
The TikTok collective that does charity work across the country made a stop in Brakpan to hand out soup and blankets.
Wild Things, a popular TikTok collective using the #Wildthing tag, handed out soup, bread and blankets to the homeless behind the Shoprite in the CBD on Saturday.
Clinton van der Berg and Amanda van As started the group in April. By July, it had grown to 55 members.
“We started this team with people’s best interests at heart and have members from all over the country,” said Van As.
Their first project feeding homeless people was on June 8 in Bredell, where they handed out blankets, soup and bread.

“We knew this is what our mission would be – to help the less fortunate. We got a donation that same day, and someone sponsored 100 blankets,” Van As explained.
The date for the Brakpan handout was set, and in collaboration with the Just Numbers 37 Bike Club and the Langenhoven Park SPAR in Bloemfontein, they handed out food and blankets.
“It is sad seeing how many people don’t have a roof over their heads and food on the table. We will continue with this initiative to the best of our abilities,” she said.
“We are a family that stands together no matter what. Thanks to everyone who helped make this day memorable,” Van As concluded.
