Man nabbed by EMPD for drunk driving
A breathalyser test revealed the driver was over the limit.
EMPD Eastern Region Task Team officers arrested a 36-year-old man in Brakpan on Saturday evening for driving under the influence of alcohol, and reckless and negligent driving.
The man was caught at the corner of Springs and Ergo roads when police were busy with their daily crime-fighting routine, and had seen him driving recklessly.
“As the driver was asked to step out of the vehicle, the officers smelled a strong alcohol odour. He was immediately breathalysed and was found to be over the required limit,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
The driver was arrested and detained at the Brakpan Police Station.
