Brakpan Soup Kitchen now serves five schools and hundreds of beneficiaries
The kitchen continues to grow in terms of sponsors and project scopes.
The Brakpan Soup Kitchen, started by J&G Auto Electrical and Mechanical and supported by many local businesses, is still going strong.
The kitchen now feeds less fortunate learners at five schools every second week, on top of their regular soup kitchen across from J&G along Voortrekker Street.
The schools that benefit from the kitchen are Laerskool Môrewag, Laerskool Dalview, Laerskool Die Arend, Laerskool Brakpan-Oos and Lag en Leer Naskool Sentrum.

The soup kitchen has been running for two years, and around 375 portions of food go to the schools every other week, as well as around 300 to 500 portions served by the regular soup kitchen.
“For me, it is about the children and the elderly,” explained Ordette Lottering from J&G. “They don’t deserve to suffer from going hungry, and if I can help, I have to.”
Sponsors and collaborators keep growing, bringing the kitchen much joy, as they can feed more people in need.
