Puppies rescued from roadside sellers
The two pups are now in the care of the Brakpan SPCA.
The Brakpan Sector 2 CPF, Secure Tech Security and members of the public have been lauded as heroes by the Brakpan SPCA.
This after the society received multiple calls on Saturday regarding puppies being sold on the side of the road at the intersection near Mall@Carnival.
“Having some issues of our very own at the society, like no vehicle and being short staffed, some amazing members of the community acted swiftly to help us out,” said Brakpan SPCA manager Tamaryn Lombard.
Sector 2 CPF members arrived and managed to get the two puppies to safety. Personnel from Secure Tech Security then collected the puppies and brought them to the SPCA.
The puppies were checked and will be monitored for any illnesses. It is hoped they will be available for adoption soon.

“We want to thank the members of the community for always trusting us to report these issues and assisting the Brakpan SPCA when we find ourselves in a pickle, as well as our local security businesses who know the current struggles we find ourselves in and always have our safety as a priority,” said Lombard.
As reported in the Brakpan Herald’s September 20 edition (SPCA cautions members of the public against buying pets from roadside sellers), the local society has observed a notable increase in reports regarding the sale of animals, particularly puppies, on roadsides and street corners.
Members of the public are reminded that purchasing these animals inadvertently creates a market that perpetuates the issue.
If members of the community see anyone selling animals on the roadside or street corners, report it to the SPCA:
