The driver of a white Toyota Hilux was targeted by hijackers along the N17 highway near Dalpark on October 17 after stopping to check on the vehicle.
According to police information, the 36-year-old victim was travelling towards Springs when, at around 07:30, another motorist indicated to him that there was a problem with the bakkie.
The victim pulled over to inspect the bakkie, and a grey Volkswagen Polo also stopped and then parked in front of the bakkie.
Two men alighted from the Polo, with one appearing to urinate on the side of the road. The other approached the victim and asked for directions. Before the victim had a chance to reply, the man reached into the bakkie and removed the keys from the ignition.

The victim was forced into the back of the bakkie and the two men drove off with him with the Polo following.
After about 20 minutes, the victim was forced from the bakkie and into the Polo, where he was then robbed of his two cellphones.
He was driven around and later dropped off at a shopping mall in Vosloorus, Boksburg. The victim reported the incident at Vosloorus SAPS, and the bakkie was later recovered in Soweto.
A laptop and tools valued at thousands of rands were inside the vehicle. In addition to the hijacking case, a kidnapping docket was also opened.
