Curro team to represent South Africa in Turkey
They presented their design to the robotics olympiad and won first place in the junior category.
Curro Helderwyk shone at the World Robotics Olympiad of South Africa’s Future Innovators competition held on September 14 at Curro Aurora in Randburg, securing them a spot in the international competition in Turkey from November 28 to 30.
Their team, Team Green Guardian, consisting of Khanyiisile Magangane, Veer Mansingh and Liam Stoop, are all Grade Seven learners at Curro Helderwyk.
The theme for the competition this year was Earth Allies, with a focus on robotic solutions to climate change and other environmental issues. Green Guardian designed a robot that protects crops from extreme weather.
With their guardian robot, they claimed first in the junior group out of the 12 teams chosen from around the country.
