Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from October 25 to 27.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A white Toyota Prada was stolen from Devon Street in Dalview.
• A silver Ford Ranger was stolen from an address along Wenden Avenue.

• Undisclosed items with a combined value of R80 600 were recovered and a man was arrested following a burglary at a school in Brenthurst.

Saturday – A white Nissan NP200 and a grey Volkswagen Polo were stolen from Hoërskool Stoffberg’s sports grounds along Colliery Road in Rand Collieries.

• Laptops were stolen during a break-in at a business along Rangeview Road in Dalpark.

Sunday – A home in Short Road, Rand Collieries, was burgled of TVs, a gaming console and laptops.

• Tools were stolen from an address along Kirchener Street in Withok Estates. A car battery was also taken from a vehicle on the property.

• A man’s body was found in the veld behind Talbot Street in Sherwood Gardens.

Police were notified of the discovery at about 14:40. The responding officer found the body covered with a blanket.

The deceased sustained wounds to his neck, stomach and left arm. A murder case is under investigation.
