Heidelberg murder accused linked to Brakpan shooting
The shooting resulted in the death of one man, while three others were injured.
Jaen-Lee Pyne, the accused in a series of crimes committed in the Heidelberg area, was arrested during a court appearance on Monday in connection with a shooting in Brakpan.
As previously reported by the Brakpan Herald, a case of murder and three cases of attempted murder were under investigation following the shooting on May 4, which saw four men come under heavy fire while driving along the quiet back roads of Brakpan.
Police reported the victims were foreign nationals. Brakpan SAPS received a report of the shooting just after 20:00 that evening and officers proceeded to the corner of Madeley Street and Hamilton Avenue.
Upon arrival, they found a silver Toyota Yaris peppered with bullet holes with two wounded men inside. A man seated in the back sustained two gunshot wounds to the head, one to the back and another to the hand.

He was later declared dead on the scene. The other man was also shot in the head and he was taken by ambulance to the Far East Rand Hospital.
The two other victims, whose injuries were not disclosed, were also taken to hospital. A firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash were found in the Yaris.
Pyne (31) is expected to make his first appearance in connection with this case tomorrow (Wednesday) in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court.
He appeared in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and malicious damage to property.

Both cases were filed early last year after Pyne allegedly attacked LeRoux Minnaar in Ratanda, and damaged his vehicle.
The case was postponed to November 25.
Pyne was also in court in connection with the July 3 shooting along Ueckermaan Street in Heidelberg, during which prominent local CPF members Etienne du Preez and Flip Minnaar were both shot in the head.
Du Preez died and Minnaar was seriously injured. This case was postponed to January 13. Pyne faces another charge of murder, following the discovery of a body buried in the front garden of his former residence.
The body was exhumed by police on October 30 following a tip-off. The victim has been identified as Musa Gumede. This case has also been postponed to November 25.
