Arm wrestling fundraiser this Saturday
Funds raised will go to the Nel family, who are still in the process of paying back a donor.
East Rand Armwrestling United is holding a fundraising event tomorrow (December 7) at the Madhouse Waterpark and Pub, to the benefit of Chereez Nel, a young girl from Boksburg who survived cancer.
Chereez was diagnosed with undifferentiated aggressive soft sarcoma stage three cancer early in 2018. She is now cancer-free, but the Nel family is still in the process of paying back a donor for the trip they undertook to the USA for treatment, as reported by sister publication, Boksburg Advertiser (Little girl with big heart fills her piggy bank for Chereez, December 16, 2022).
Arm wrestlers from Pain & Gain Arm Wrestling, Supernova ArmWrestling Club, South African Armwrestling Federation and Red Sun Armwrestling are hosting the fundraiser, starting at 09:00.
There will be several matches, as well as live entertainment provided by musician Willie Botha. Athletes will pay a R100 entry fee, while spectators will pay a R30 entrance fee per person, which also gives them full access to the water park.
