iRun athletes participate in CGA championships
The various athletes did well at the championships.
Several athletes of the iRun Athletic Club competed in the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) Championships recently.
Three athletes qualified to represent Central Gauteng at the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Sub-Youth Track and Field Championships. The national championships will take place in Bloemfontein on December 6 and 7.
The three athletes are Mia Strydom (U7 60m and 80m sprint), Ruard Christie (U7 60m and 80m) and Leané Klinkenberg (U11 80m and 100m). Lannice Strydom (ASA level 2 sprints coach) is the coach of these three Brakpan athletes.
Jared de Waal ASA level 3 middle/long distance and cross-country recognised Trinity Henning (U13), who finished sixth in 800m and 1500m, running the qualifying time but missing selection by one position.
Also applauded was Megan-Ann Roberts (U11), who ran the qualifying time in the 1 200m but also narrowly missed selection, and Iwan Labuschagne (U13) in throwing the qualifying distance in shotput in previous events. He won a bronze medal at CGA but failed to throw the qualifying distance at CGA.
