Gunman grabs cash from tills during retail store robbery in CBD

The armed robber initially pretended to be a customer.

The Pep Store on Voortrekker Road was targeted by robbers on Monday morning.

According to police information, an employee was standing outside the store when she was approached by a man at around 11:45.

The man told the employee he wanted to buy a school blazer for his child.

As the employee started explaining that the store doesn’t stock school blazers, the man lifted his shirt to show her a gun concealed in the waistband of his pants.

He then forced the employee inside the store where he took the safe keys.

After failing to open the safe, the robber headed to the tills where he helped himself to cash, taking around R4 000.

The gunman was accompanied by two accomplices. No other goods were taken from the store. A business robbery case was opened at Brakpan SAPS.
