Brakpan SAPS supports health compliance inspection at local warehouse

Brakpan SAPS provided support to the relevant municipal departments involved.

On March 4, Brakpan SAPS participated in the compliance inspection organised by the Ekurhuleni Department of Economic Development and the Department of Environmental Health.

SAPS sector managers were a force multiplier in support of the municipal departments. The inspection was conducted at a local warehouse, which supplies stores in and around Brakpan.

Health inspectors targeted the warehouses as part of a strategic approach to eliminating issues in supermarkets and spaza shops supplied by warehouses.

They cited that in ensuring health conformance by the suppliers, they can prevent unsafe food products from reaching local shops, thus reducing sickness and untimely deaths.

Food products, especially tinned products, were inspected. Certificates and stock registers were requested, and returns and disposal were also inspected. Then, corrective measures were provided by the health inspectors to the warehouse facilitators.
