Building strong police-community relationships

Local SAPS serve the community in different ways.

Brakpan SAPS engaged with members of the public at two different community events on Saturday, which were attended by sector managers.

The attendance by SAPS members not only ensures safety but also strengthens relations and helps regain the trust and respect of community members.

The first event was the 5km fun walk in Minnebron, where local police were represented by Sector 2 manager Constable Zunaid Rustoff.

The purpose of the event was to unite residents, young and old, through fitness. The second engagement was the clean-up at the Eric Holdtman Service Centre at the Tweedy Park Old Age Home.

This was attended by Sector 1 manager Constable Audrey Buthelezi.

“Both events were pleasant to attend and participate in. The SAPS utilised the opportunity to reach out to the public and remind them that the SAPS is always there for them and we care,” said Buthelezi.
